Last year, Trudy and Jamie made two bold moves: 1) they chose bright blue as their colour theme and 2) they chose (and choose) each other forever and forever.
When Wayne made the tough (and some of his friends would say even crazy) decision to move to Macau for his career, he knew it wouldn’t be permanent and that he would come back to Vancouver someday. But that all changed when he met Fiona. She is the only reason he needs to stay in Macau. Fast forward a couple years and here they are now on their wedding day.
Did you know Wescadia hired a new Executive Chef last summer? His name is David Speight and he’s bringing fresh, local flavors to your event.
David is a homegrown Vancouver talent who has been cooking professionally for the past twenty years with the last twelve of those years at an Executive Chef level. He has successfully completed culinary programs both locally at Vancouver Community College and also from the Culinary Institute of America in New York. Before leading the team at Rogers Arena for the past six years David held Executive Chef positions with Monk McQueen’s Seafood & Oyster Bar as well as Bridges Restaurant on Granville Island. During his tenure at Rogers Arena, David was responsible for all aspects of the culinary operation including playing a key role in the development of the food and nutrition program for the Vancouver Canucks hockey team. His role during the 2010 Winter Olympics included assisting both the men’s and women’s Canadian hockey teams in achieving their respective goals of winning Olympic gold. Along with the professional athletes David has been responsible for preparing meals for “A” list recording artists and various heads of state.
Chef Speight believes that food found in the Pacific Northwest Region is amongst the best in the world and looks to provide guests with local, sustainable, organic offerings wherever possible. His pride, passion and enthusiasm make him a natural leader; he believes that you are only as strong as the people you surround yourself with. Quality, speed and consistency are the key values he instills in his culinary team. His passion for the culinary arts is rivaled by his passion for sustainability.
